How to: Deink Dice
Customizing our dice to fit our needs is just something a dice collector will do from time to time. Let me share with you how I deink dice to get them ready to reink with different font colors.
Let me start with a list of the things I use to deink dice.
LA Awesome...that's all I know and all I am suggesting you use.
Glass jar with lid that seals and is water tight.
Toothbrush or similar brush. Nothing abrasive...dice can be fragile.
Windowsill with direct sunlight or warm place for the glass jar to sit.
Now lets get into the steps I take to deink dice, keep in mind times will vary depending on the level of ink stubbornness.
Put the dice you want to deink into your glass jar.
Fill the jar with LA Awesome about 2 inches above the top of the dice.
Place the jar in the windowsill that will allow it to get the warmest.
If this is not an option you can always soak the jar and its contents in a tub of hot water.
After about 24 hours take the dice out and brush over the ink with your brush.
Put them back into the LA Awesome and slush it around.
You may need to repeat the last 2 steps until all the ink is gone.
Keep in mind I have had to soak dice for weeks on end to get rid of the majority of ink on them. This process can take take varying amounts of time but in my opinion is the safest way to deink your dice.
